Radoslaw Wojtaszek opened his eyes upon the world on the 13th of January, 1987 at Elblag, Poland. His talent and love for the game got showcased internationally when he won the U-18 World Youth Chess Championship in 2004. He also won the Cracovia Open in the same year. Unfazed by his success, he enhanced his performance and secured a victory in the Polish Chess Championship held in 2005. Wojtaszek gained new honor in 2008 when he became world champion Anand’s official second for the match with Kramnik. He repeated the act in 2010 when he again became Anand’s second for his match with Topalov, a distinction which very few can achieve.

In his own career, Wojtaszek kept reaching new heights. He secured the coveted Grandmaster title in the year 2005. December 2008 saw him become the European rapid chess champion. He followed his trail of success into 2009 as he finished second in the Polish Championship and tied for second at the international tournament in Lubin. The year held more pleasant memories for Wojtaszek as he won the Najdorf Memorial played in Warsaw and tied for 1st-5th position at the 39th Rilton Cup in Stockholm. 2010 saw him finish second once more in the Polish championship and he won the 5th International Tournament of Polonia Wroclaw in July 2010.

Wojtaszek holds a current FIDE world rating of 2663 with a world ranking of 76. His best achievement comes in the form of national rankings as he is currently rated the best ranked player for Poland. With a lot of tournaments to play in the coming years, Radoslaw Wojtaszek has every possibility of taking the Polish legacy to new heights in the world of chess.
