Andrei Volokitin – The Ukraine child prodigy

Andrei Volokitin, age 24, is a Ukrainian chess player and International Chess Grandmaster. He was born on 18th June 1986 in Lviv. His FIDE ranking was 44 on November 2009 and Peak rating 2685 on January 2005.

While still a junior, Volokitin won the medal twice at “World Youth Chess” Championships, winning the silver at “Oropesa del Mar” in 1998 at the below 12 level along with the bronze in the same place in the below 14 level a year later.

Volokitin was a part of the state youth team of Ukraine in 1999, winning the under 16 category in “Chess Olympiad” at Artek, Ukraine. He became a Grandmaster while he was still a fifteen year old in 2001.
