Sergey A. Fedorchuk: Official Chess Profile

Sergey A. Fedorchuk was born on the 14th of March in the year 1981. Like many of the great players before

him, he picked up the essence of chess from a very early age. The first reflections of his genius was seen in 1995 when he made the world take notice of him by winning the under 14 European Youth Chess Championship. Fedorchuk continued to gain success over the years as 2006 again brought him back to the limelight with the rapid tournament held in Banyoles in which he became the champion. He followed up his success that very year with the tie for 1st-3rd place in the 8th Dubai Open.

2008 opened the doors of more success and accolades for him as he tied for 1st-8th in the Cappelle-la-Grande tournament. 2009 turned out to be even better in the cards as Fedorchuk tied for 1st-2nd in the Ile-de-France Paris Tournament. This was also the year when he came first at Nantes. He gained his grandmaster title in the year 2002, securing him the rank of one of the Ukrainian great chess players. Fedorchuk is in a more dominant form in 2010, winning the Spanish open tournament Vila de Salou in May and securing another victory in the 9th Al Saleh Open in June, 2010.

Fedorchuk holds a current FIDE rating of 2665 with a world ranking of 72 and an outstanding national rank of 7. He has an overall victory percentage of 56 percent in major tournaments, making him an extremely strong contender across the board. The continuing success of 2010 and a sharp increase in performance only hold a bright future for Sergey A. Fedorchuk in the world of chess.
